Masimo Open Connect (MOC-9®)

Flexible Measurement Expansion on the Root® Platform

Root offers expandable measurement capability through plug-and-play Masimo Open Connect (MOC-9) modules. MOC-9 modules expand Root’s potential with additional Masimo and third-party measurement technologies, allowing clinicians to connect the most applicable monitoring solutions for each patient.

Expanding Masimo Measurements

Masimo Next Generation SedLine® Brain Function Monitoring, O3® regional oximetry, and ISA™ capnography are all available as MOC-9 modules.

Next Generation SedLine brain function monitoring features an enhanced processed EEG index (PSi) and utilises four simultaneous channels of EEG data to provide continuous information about the state of the brain under anaesthesia

O3 regional oximetry uses near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to monitor tissue oxygen saturation (rSO2) in the brain

ISA capnography provides sidestream CO2 and gas monitoring with cost-effective consumables

Up to three MOC-9 modules can be connected to Root simultaneously

Third-party Innovation

Root is also designed for third-party measurement expansion, allowing other companies to expand the platform with their own technologies, through MOC-9. Masimo Open Connect makes it possible for third-party companies to develop and commercialise their innovations, then deliver them to market via the Root platform, all while following Masimo’s established development and validation process.

Analgesia Nociception Index (ANI®) MOC-9 Module
Analgesia Nociception Index (ANI) technology is now available from Mdoloris Medical Systems as a MOC-9 module for Root. According to Mdoloris, the ANI MOC-9 module allows monitoring of the tone of the parasympathetic nervous system by computing the ANI parameter, which may be used to monitor the balance between analgesia and nociception.

According to Mdoloris, use of ANI technology may help clinicians assess pain and determine treatment options. Specifications, directions for use, and clinical studies are available from Mdoloris.
